 Electrolytic Hard Chrome Plating

Electrolytic Hard Chrome Plating has a wide array of applications due to its crucial benefits.

  • High Hardness (900-1050HV)
  • Good abrasion resistance
  • Good corrosion resistance
  • Excellent bonding with the substrate metal
  • Adequadely machineable (grinding, reaming, lapping, polishing, abrassive blasting)
  • Minimal porosity

It also provides significant advantages in terms of coating applications.

  • Application temperature of 55ᵒC which causes no risk of deformation to the parent metal.
  • Ability to be easily removed from the parent metal, thus allows recoating without damaging the parent metal.
  • Wide range of application sizes with the proper lifting/energising apparatuses.
  • Applicability of inner bore plating or outer surface plating with the suitable anode configurations.
  • Applicable from very thin coatings to up to 1mm thick plating thicknesses.

Content of the electrolyte is crucial for high quality chrome plating. Parameters which effects the quality of the plating such as hardness, brightness, micro cracked structure, plating deposition rate, bonding are directly related to electrolyte content. Electrolyte content is monitored regularly in our facility.

High variety of plating baths and rectifiers are available in our facility.

Low carbon steels, high carbon steels, heat treated steels, stainless steels, tool steels, steel castings are the most commonly coated materials. Coating of metal coated surfaces, materials such as aluminium, copper, copper alloys is TEKNORMA LC's area of expertise.

Hard chrome plating can be used without machining according to the intended use.  However, in cases where surface roughness is important, processes such as grinding, sandblasting and super finishing are used. For some applications, nodular hard chrome plating is preferred. In this coating structure consisting of microscopic domes, the desired surface roughness and texture are obtained and solutions to various friction problems are sought. Hydrogen embrittlement annealing is performed after coating on parts belonging to special areas of use,

TEKNORMA LC provides hard chrome plating services to many industries such as steel sheet, aluminium sheet and foil, synthetic yarn and fibre, steel wire, paper, defence, machinery manufacturing, petrochemical, rubber and plastic, food, weaving, automotive.

Steel sheet production line rolls, paint line rolls, rolling mill rolls, paper rolls, turbine shafts, hydraulic piston shafts, tyre and plastic moulds, feed rolls, guide rollers, winding rollers, pump pistons, homogenisation pistons, calender rollers, weaving rolls, cannon barrels, crusher rolls, plastic extruders, tyre moulds, general purpose shafts, shafts, sleeves, rollers are the application areas of hard chrome plating. Diameter size restorations are frequently performed hard chrome plating works.
